![]() ![]() The split between Aaron and Kayla’s mom clearly caused from fractures in their relationship while Malik not only struggles with finding financially fruitful work but is also resistant to make connections with the majority heterosexual people around him because of personal trauma from his youth that still haunts him. Right away it’s very easy to understand the dynamic and slight sense of tension between Malik, Aaron, and Kayla as a new family. Spiral is the kind of film that’s less about delivering frights at every turn and more about dissecting its characters and the struggles they face as their fears grow throughout the film. Spiral has a lot of great themes about systematic oppression that leave a deep impact. Now as he attempts to solve what is happening to him and deal with the resurgence of a traumatic incident from this youth, Malik must figure out if these neighbors actually have something deadly in store for him and his family or if his own sanity is spiraling out of control. However, as he suspects something much more sinister occurring that stems from a ritualistic history within the town, Malik becomes suspicious of everyone around him and question their intentions. Upon arriving, Malik notices some of the strange behavior of his neighbors as well as some backhanded compliments and passive aggressive aimed at his and Aaron’s relationship. ![]() The film follows gay couple Malik (Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman) and Aaron (Ari Cohen) as they move to a small suburban town with Aaron’s teenage daughter Kayla (Jennifer Laporte). However, although my love for the horror genre pretty much guarantees a subscription for Shudder is surely in my future, I didn’t need to since Spiral recently came to wider VOD services and after checking the film out, it sadly couldn’t fully live up to the hype. Granted, the 3D aspect of the film won't do you much good now, but if you're dedicated to seeing everything "Saw" has to offer, you can stream the seventh film on Pluto TV, and you can rent it for $3.99 on Google Play, Prime Video, Vudu, and YouTube. When I originally saw a trailer for the indie horror flick Spiral as it was being promoted for its debut on the horror streaming service Shudder, it’s reminiscence to Get Out with more of an LGBT direction immediately caught my eye and actually made me consider subscribing to the platform to check it out. "Saw 3D: The Final Chapter" promised it would be the last entry in the series, but as "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter" proved all the way back in 1984, you can never keep a slasher franchise down for long. You can stream "Saw VI" on Pluto TV, or you can rent it for $3.99 on Google Play, Vudu, or YouTube, as well as $4.79 on Prime Video. His legend looms large, and as a result, insurance salesmen and loan sharks find themselves in all sorts of sticky predicaments. In "Saw VI," Kramer is still at it - even though he's dead. You can stream "Saw V" on Hulu and Pluto TV, or you can rent it for $3.99 on Google Play, Prime Video, Vudu, or YouTube. That's the case in "Saw V," where Kramer disciple Detective Hoffman finds himself butting heads with Special Agent Strahm, who's determined to bring him down. Sure, John Kramer kicked the bucket, but when you've got a dedicated acolyte, your legacy can live on forever. You can stream "Saw IV" on Pluto TV, or you can rent it for $3.99 on Google Play, Prime Video, Vudu, or YouTube. With John Kramer holding court from beyond the grave, there are sadistic kills a-plenty. In "Saw IV," yeah, Jigsaw is dead, but we're still playing some seriously messed-up games. Still, it was outgrossed by other horror movies like "Halloween Kills," "Don't Breathe 2," and "The Forever Purge." It was even beaten by films you wouldn't think would outgross a mainstream horror title, a la Wes Anderson's "The French Dispatch" and Ridley Scott's "House of Gucci." With a reported budget of $20 million, a $40 million cume ain't the kind of return that inspires further investment. Granted, it came out in 2021 - a very weird time for theaters. Unfortunately, "Spiral" is the lowest-grossing movie in the entire "Saw" series. We'll see if people like it." Max Minghella, who played the film's killer, also expressed interest in coming back, telling in July 2021, "For sure, if there was an appetite for us to come back. In May 2021, the comedian/actor spoke to Radio Times about his freaky flick, saying, "I hope this movie is like 'Creed,' in the sense that 'Creed' is technically like 'Rocky 7.' So, hopefully there's more 'Spirals' and hopefully I'm in more 'Spirals.' But we'll see. ![]() So it seems his opinion on the future of the "Spiral" movies would be pretty important, and he's very invested in what happens next. ![]()
